This policy explains what information BetterYou Co ("BetterYou Co", "we", "us") collects when you use our Android app and this website (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
BetterYou Co offers mental wellness screening (GAD-7, PHQ-8 and DASS-21), a BMI calculator, health tracking, guided programs and messaging with qualified specialists. Because this involves health information, we try to collect only what the features need and to be clear about how it is used.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: name, email address, phone number and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash. If you choose Google Sign-In, we receive your Google account name and email address.
- Profile details: date of birth, gender, height, weight, daily activity level, average sleep, and your notification preferences.
- Health information: blood pressure, heart rate, BMI and sleep that you enter yourself, and your answers and results for the screening questionnaires (GAD-7, PHQ-8, DASS-21), including the score and severity band.
- Messages and bookings: messages you exchange with a specialist, session requests, and the meeting link and time a specialist sets.
- Purchases: the program you enrol in, the amount, and the payment status. We do not collect or store payment card numbers. Payments in the current version of the Service run in a test mode.
- Reviews: ratings and comments you write about a specialist.
- Specialist accounts only: profile photo, intro video, biography, languages, specialties, pricing, verification documents, client notes, and earnings and payout records.
Information collected automatically
- Security logs: when you sign in or attempt to, we record the email used, role, result, IP address and device/browser details. For requests made by the app, we also record the request path, response status, timing, IP address and device details so we can detect abuse and fix problems.
- Website cookies: the website uses essential session and security (CSRF) cookies to keep you logged in and protect forms. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
- Verification codes: one-time codes we email you to verify your account or reset your password.
Guests
You can take the GAD-7 and PHQ-8 screenings and use the BMI calculator without an account. If you do, an anonymous guest session may be created so the result can be attached to an account if you later sign up.
What we do not collect
The Android app requests only the Internet permission. We do not collect your location, contacts, microphone or camera data, or an advertising ID, and we do not show ads. Specialists can pick a photo or video from their device for their profile; we only receive the file they choose.
2. How we use information
- Create and secure your account and verify your identity.
- Calculate your screening scores, wellness score and trends, and show your history.
- Match you with a specialist and let them support you, including seeing your results and health records.
- Process program purchases, specialist earnings and payouts, and keep accounting records.
- Send service messages such as verification codes and password resets.
- Flag unusually high screening scores so a specialist or our team can follow up appropriately.
- Prevent fraud and abuse, troubleshoot, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who can see your information
- Your assigned specialist. Once you are matched with a specialist, they can see your name, age and gender, screening results, health records, and the messages and bookings between you. Specialists are verified by us before they can accept clients.
- Other users. If you leave a review, other users see your first name and last initial, your rating and your comment on the specialist's public profile. Your health information is never shown publicly.
- BetterYou Co staff. Authorised team members can access account, program and payment information to verify specialists, handle payments and payouts, and provide support.
- Service providers. We use hosting and email delivery providers that process data on our behalf, only to run the Service.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users or the public.
4. Health information and safety
Screening questionnaires are not a diagnosis, and the Service is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you feel unsafe or are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service right away.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account (see section 7) we delete your personal and health information. We keep only the payment, program purchase, earnings and payout records that we are required to retain for accounting and legal purposes, and these are no longer linked to your name, email address or phone number.
6. Security
We protect your information with measures including hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that limit what each type of user can see, and limits on repeated login attempts. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and update your profile and health records in the app or on the website.
- Notifications: you can switch notification types on or off in your profile.
- Delete your account and data: you can permanently delete your account yourself at any time, without contacting us, using our account deletion page. You will need your registered email and password.
- Other requests: to ask a question about your data or request a copy, email us at the address below from your registered email address.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, such as objecting to or restricting certain processing. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Where your data is processed
Your information may be stored and processed on servers in countries other than where you live. We take steps to keep it protected wherever it is processed.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app or by email.
